The Authentication redirect method we’re using requires a minimum firmware of 8.0.5
Above we’re showing the upgrade procedure from 8.0.5 to 8.0.6. This can be done remotely.
If you want to make an upgrade to 8.3.x a few things have to be checked:

  • Is the firewall running in assigned services mode?
    • You can check this by looking into the fact if the firewall has a virtual server or not.
  • Is the firewall running with the bigger partition or not?
    • Log in to the firewall and check if the boot partition is around 1GB or bigger.
If one of the conditions above is not met, please correct this. If the partition is correct, you can remotely install to 8.3.x. If this is not the case, do a USB install.

Please keep in mind that Barracuda will stop the support of firmware versions lower than 8.3.x starting from June 2023.

Besides that there will be no IPS updates anymore starting from January 2023 for firewalls running firmware older than 8.3.x
